AC Milan Have A Date With Sandro Tonali In The UEFA Champions League Group Of Death As Inter Milan Gets Easier Opponents

The draws for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League Group stage was made today in Monte Carlo, throwing up some exciting fixtures along the way for the four representatives from Italy, Napoli, Lazio, Inter Milan and AC Milan.

For the Rossoneri, they couldn’t have asked for a worst possible draw after being drawn in Group F with French giants, PSG, German powerhouse, Borussia Dortmund and new comers, Newcastle United in what can be termed as the group of death, looking like the toughest group on paper.

It will also see Italian midfielder, Sandro Tonali facing his former teammates and playing at the Giuseppe Meazza as an opponent for the first time in a long while, following his big money move to the Tyneside club.
For Lazio, they’re drawn in group E with Dutch League winner, Feyenoord, Spanish LaLiga side, Atletico Madrid and Scottish side, Celtic. They would fancy their chances of progressing to the knockout stages, but they will need to improve on their current performance that has seen them lose their first two games in the Serie A to Genoa and Lecce.
For Inter Milan, they were able to go far in last season’s edition, losing to Manchester City in the final and they would be fancying their chances this season too. That task may have been made easier after they were handed what can be termed an easy group, but we all know that no team is a push over.
They will be facing Benfica, whom they defeated in the knockout stages last season, RB Salzburg and Spanish side, Real Sociedad. In the award ceremony, Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola won the UEFA coach of the year award, ahead of Simone Inzaghi and Luciano Spalletti.

The UEFA Women’s Coach of the Year was won by England coach, Serina Wiegman. For the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year, Norwegian and Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland picked up the award for his exploit with the City side following their treble triumph. The UEFA Women’s Player of the Year, female category was won by Spanish international, Aitana Bonmati.
