Spain federation president Luis Rubiales has refused to step down from his position, despite reports that he would do so on Friday.

Rubiales came under fire in the wake of inappropriate behavior following Spain’s World Cup win on Sunday.
After he appeared to force a kiss with player Jenni Hermoso during the team’s medal ceremony, calls for his resignation have followed.
FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Rubiales on Thursday.
Futpro, the Spanish players’ union, announced in conjunction with Hermoso’s agency that they were looking into action on her behalf.
Rubiales condemned his critics and adamantly refused to step down in a fiery speech during an emergency RFEF assembly on Friday.
“We’re in a country where the law rules, where there has to be a motive to take you out of some place,” Rubiales said.
“And I say: what is it I’ve done? A consensual peck is enough to get me out of here?”

Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has been provisionally suspended by world governing body Fifa.
